CRHISTINE WILLIS

Her work is inspired by her surroundings: nature, the sea, Greek and Byzantine art

CRHISTINE WILLIS - GREECE

The soul requires emotional fulfillment, the mind intellectual satisfaction, the spirit higher realms of experience and the hands sensitive creativity. For the past 40 years I have been searching for the perfect vessel. Clay has always been my medium and I find myself exploring and experimenting with all the different possibilities in which it can be formed, shaped, colored and fired.

Christine Lansdale Willis was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. Her first contact with ceramics was on the island of Sifnos, where she studied with traditional folk potters.

She received her bachelor's degree in ceramics from UC Santa Cruz. She holds a master's degree in Black Sea Cultural Studies from the International Hellenic University of Thessaloniki. Her work is inspired by her surroundings: nature, the sea, Greek and Byzantine art. She lives in the small village of Lakkia, outside Thessaloniki, where she organizes clay workshops and alternative firings.
