The fine ceramic vessels of ancient Greece are icons that become the basis of this research study over time. In this case, the physicality of the vase is denied; the light, buoyant construction represents the human desire to overcome the difficulties of the body and is employed not to construct a solid vase, but its contour. Space is defined by the contour, like the space enclosed by the womb. The language of ceramics has evolved into a rarefied condition in which all that remains are the lines and contours, demarcating the empty spaces that confine.
