MATER RESILIENCE, 2024
Stoneware, engobes and glazes.
The bamboo that decorated the gardens of the villas and houses of Lucca during World War II was turned into food to feed the population at the point of exhaustion. Women with its soft boiled heart fed their families, from a highly adapted plant they, adapting in turn, derived nourishment!!! At the end of the conflict they donated small bamboo sprigs to the madonna, a symbol of resilience and adaptation. My sculpture will be a female figure, a matres, whose column is a bamboo that from the openings on her body will be visible. Everything will represent a historical period, but more so the strength and spirit of adaptability that correlates the feminine world and bamboo.
