FATEME GHASEMI - Lotus

FATEME GHASEMI Regina, Canada

Lotus, 2023

Low-temperature local clays and high-temperature kaolin clays.

I am fighting for human and women's rights in Iran, inspired by the recent movement Woman, Life, Freedom and to the case of Nilofar Hamedi, who was arrested in October 2022 by the Iranian regime for reporting the death of Mahsa Amini, a young woman killed by the morality police. I want to highlight the struggle for freedom in Iran by using symbols such as lotus flowers, which in English refers to Nilofar, to represent hope and the struggle against oppression. The contrast between the ugly ceramics and the natural flowers symbolizes the conflict between the Iranian people and the oppressive regime.
