Triptych: The Rite of Enheduanna, 2024
Red earthenware, finished with red iron oxide, low temperature, cookie firing.
Reflecting on "Primitivism" puzzled me. I saw again an unconscious bias: primitive, irrational, collective, spiritual art contrasted with individual, heroic, philosophical, masculine, real art. Did you know that the first author, long before Homer, was a woman? Her name is Enheduanna. I have chosen to honor her by claiming her place in History by carving four significant verses of her masterful work "The Exaltation of Innana" in clay tablets as it was made during her lifetime.
