MIRTA MORIGI - CAPUSSELLE

MIRTA MORIGI Faenza (RA), Italy

Capusselle, 2024

Lathe-molded Faenza clay glazed with colored sprinkling glazes.

Heads play a central role in primitivism, as they are often charged with symbolic and ritual meanings, instruments between the human and spirit worlds. My idea also stems from the ancient Neapolitan traditions of venerating the heads of corpses. Not mere decorative objects, but a deep connection with the spiritual world. I unleashed creativity by seeking "making" and evoking the purity of tribal cultures, to reflect on the mystery of life and death.
