PIERA MAUTONE - Abbiccì

PIERA MAUTONE - Italy

SECOND PRIZE.

Abbiccì

Coil shaping, slip with colored earths, manganese, crystalline.

A vase made through the rudiments, the A B C of pottery, columbine for forging and engobe for decoration, two very ancient techniques. The exterior is characterized by natural, muted tones and manganese markings, the interior is glazed with a brick-colored crystalline, hues reminiscent of the earth, especially the earth so dear to us, of the south. The shape, sinuous and organic, seemingly contrasts with the decoration's signs, sharp and geometric, which allude to symbols similar to an archaic alphabet.

SECONDO PREMIO per PIERA MAUTONE with the work ABBICCIwith the following reasoning: P.M.'s vase results from a balanced study of the shape of the decorations on the outer surface and the monochromatic glaze applied to its interior.
