ROBBIE MAZZARO

That hidden part that works for long years before germinating

ROBBIE MAZZARO - ITALY

MY RHIZOMES, 2024

White and red stoneware, pyrex, and decanted earths.

These are the REZOMES of my bamboo. That hidden part that works for long years before germinating, slowly preparing itself with everything it needs to emerge and never stop again. Each node in it contains a dormant bud that will be able to develop into a new branch. This long process makes me reflect on how important time and patience are and how necessary they are to build a solid and strong foundation on which to grow freely. To how much wisdom is inherent in nature. They show up lying on the ground, there where they will continue to take root and fortify themselves until they are ready. The diversity of coloring represents my origins, an interweaving of various cultures that together will give birth to my bamboo garden. At a time when I feel very much akin to this stage of bamboo growth, my rhizomes are meant to remind us that we must never lose sight of the vastness of the sky or our ability to continue growing each day.
