Clay mixed with straw and sand.

In the beginning was mud. Then also straw, sand and heat. No ovens, but baking with Mediterranean sun. The ladiri, in Sardinian, adobe-raw earth in Italian. Presumptive building technique, widespread in the Middle East, also arrived in Sardinia and still exists today. Two artisans, maybe three still make bricks from unfired earth. Their age-old recipe transformed into an object-container, a box, with contemporary design.
