ROSSELLA SCHIAVINI - Matres

ROSSELLA SCHIAVINI Milan, Italy

JURY REPORT

Matres, 2022

Molded with chamotted black stoneware, decorated with glaze, fired at 1220°C.

Matres were female deities venerated by the Celts as givers of abundance and fertility. From this historical fact related to my home territory, I construct a sculptural triad with rounded volumes that recall primitive canons of the fecund feminine, voluminous and sketchy Paleolithic new Venuses where the sinuous alternation of concave and convex, of clefts and ribs, suggests breasts and bellies, the forms of not only bodily fecundity of the feminine.

Jury report a Rossella Schiavini - Italy with the work Matres, a sculptural triad with rounded volumes that recall the primitive canons of the fecund feminine. Interesting is the sinuous alternation of concave and convex, of fissures and ribs, suggesting the forms of the feminine.
