Heaven and Earth, 2024

The masks applied on the rings give a face to two inescapable elements: heaven and earth. Heaven and earth are inseparable, which is why I framed each mask in a shape that echoes the geometry of the other, signifying that earth cannot exist without heaven and vice versa. In traditional African cultures, the wearer of a mask unites with what the mask represents; following this principle, the wearer of the rings is invited to look at the soul of things.
