In close connection with the theme of the Matres Festival- PRIMITIVIS 2024 this exhibition explores primitivism through funerary urns, ancient and powerful symbols of the link between life and death.

The works on display, created by contemporary ceramicists, reflect a return to the origins, a celebration of forms and materials that recall humanity's ancestral past. The funerary urns, with their simple, contemporary lines mingled with archaic motifs, become silent witnesses to forgotten traditions, evoking a sense of sacredness and continuity. Each piece, made with artisanal and innovative techniques, is a tribute to nature and primitive spirituality, reminding us of our connection to the earth and those who have gone before us. It will be an invitation for visitors to reflect on memory, material and the intrinsic meaning these ancient vessels carry, while celebrating the timeless beauty of ceramic art. There are 13 contemporary ceramic artists revisiting ceramic funerary art in the past, present and future from 13 different perspectives. Don't miss your chance to admire their extraordinary works at the Matres Festival!
